​VIVES EN "CLOUD CUCKOO LAND"?

I recently used this expression when chatting with a Spanish friend of mine who has passed the proficiency test. It was new for him so I thought that it would be definitely worth sharing. 

It always surprises me how many expressions in English have a direct equivalent in Spanish. In this case, however, I think it is unlikely. You might have an expression that is similar and means the same but not exactly word for word.

For some reason I always connect this expression with the famous book "One flew over the cuckoo's nest" but maybe that is just because they both have the word "cuckoo" in them!

Anyway, the meaning of "to live in cloud cuckoo land" is that you are totally detached from reality and that you think something is possible when it clearly isn't. 

Here is an example:

"If you think that Tottenham is going to win the Champions League, you live in cloud cuckoo land" (I'm a Tottenham fan by the way! One day I should write a post about the pronunciation of "Tottenham"). 

or 

"He thinks Brexit is going to be easy!"..."He lives in cloud cuckoo land!"
