THIS IS A CLASSIC: COOK or COOKER Many Spanish people go into a restaurant and they start talking about how good the "cooker" is. This is very confusing for native speakers because a "cooker" in English is the appliance that heats the food (gas cooker, electric cooker etc). If you want to talk about the person who is cooking the food then you need to say: "the cook" or the "chef". Hope that helps!
