There aren’t that many expressions in Spanish whose meanings are kept when translated to English.
But there is one that means exactly the same thing in both languages: cuando alguien/algo es la bomba. We have the exact same saying in English. Be it to describe a situation, an event, a thing, or a person, a ‘bomb’ refers to someone who’s a lot of fun, or something that you enjoy. For example: 💣 The Coldplay concert last night was the bomb! We had so much fun! 💣 Pedro is the absolute bomb. I really hope he comes to the party tonight. 💣 This robot vacuum cleaner I just got is the bomb! It’s so quiet, clean, and efficient! And if you’ve been watching Friends to improve your English, you may have also come across another substitute: Gandalf. When referring to a friend he describes as ‘a party wizard’, Ross calls him ‘Gandalf’, from Lord of the Rings’ (el señor de los anillos) Gandalf the wizard! Should you make the same reference, not many may understand it. But given the large amount of Friends fans out there, it may just be worth a shot! I hope that helps! Daniel
