Many Spanish people don't know how to say "obras" in English or they use the Spanglish version which is "works". The correct way to say "obras" (for your house) is: " to refurbish" or "to renovate".
So an example sentence is: "I am refurbishing my house to make it look more modern". If you are talking about "obras" in the street then you need to use: "road works". Example sentence: "There is a lot of traffic because of the "road works". I hope that helps! Daniel
