Ever find yourself in an awkward conversation and not quite sure how to move on without showing your discomfort?
In Spanish, you’d say: a otra cosa, mariposa. It’s got a nice rhyme and even a beat to it. But, unfortunately, the English can’t quite come up with an equivalent that’s as catchy. And while we may not be naturally dispositioned to be direct and often prefer to beat around the bush, this may just be one instance where we tend to be straightforward. Here are some ways to express ‘a otra cosa, mariposa’ in English. As you’ll see, they are nowhere near as creative and are all rather clear cut! 😬 Moving on... 😬 Anyway… 😬 Changing the subject... Or if you prefer more cultural alternatives: 🍵 More tea? - very British ⚾ How about them Red Sox? - very American. You may use other sports teams, of course! Are there any others that you’ve heard?
