Sometimes in English you need to be very careful about the way that you pronounce words and this is a good example of this (there are many others as well).
I have sometimes gone into a class and a student will tell me: "I met some great gays at the weekend". This might be true and absolutely fine if it is but in most cases I know that in the student's mind they have the word "guys" but they pronounce it as "gay". So you need to be careful with your pronunciation!
Just to be very clear:
Guy = tio/chico
Gay = homosexual
Hope that helps!
