The choice of words you use in a day-to-day conversation with your friends, partner, or family may matter too much. But when it comes to sales, it’s a whole other game.
Every single word you say has an effect on the decision maker — as subtle as it may be. Most of you already know the difference between the active and passive voice. But what about power words? Power words are words that persuade, words that trigger an emotional response, and words that help your listener paint a picture. It can take on any form, be it a verb, noun, adjective, adverb, etc. As a salesman, power words are extremely useful and important when you’re selling a new product to a client. Here are some very basic power words to use during a presentation of a new product. To convince: 👉 Proven, guaranteed, absolutely, definite, potential, ability To communicate the product’s value: 👉 Novelty-related: Fresh, innovative, original, latest 👉 Technology-related: up-to-date, modern, state-of-the-art, imaginative 👉 Value-related: practical, effective, efficient, reliable, sturdy Hope that helps!
