Imagine that you are working on a project that has a very strict deadline. You are worried that the project won't get finished on time so when you go to a meeting with all the team members the first thing that you say is:
"Time is running" This is a shame because it is very close to the correct version but not quite right. The key problem is that you have this in your head: "El tiempo esta corriendo" There are a variety of ways to say this in English: "Time is running out" "The clock is ticking" For example: "We need to finish this report as soon as possible, the clock is ticking!" Hope that helps!
