This is a very common mistake for Spanish people. The main problem is that Spanish people like to use "travel" in many situations where it can not be used.
So, an example sentence is: "Yesterday I made a TRAVEL to Sevilla". This sentence is wrong for a number of reasons but the main thing to remember is that "travel" is a verb not a noun (sustantivo). So the correct sentence is: "Yesterday I went on a TRIP to Sevilla". The verb "travel" is used as a verb is sentences like: "He travels all around the world"
Hope that helps!
