¿"ANTIGÜEDAD" EN INGLÉS?

Nov 22, 2022

In human resources circles in Spain, there is often talk about the issue of "antigüedad", especially, because in general, the more you work in a company, the more expensive it is for the company to dismiss/fire/sack/make you redundant (hay muchas palabras para decir "despedir" en inglés).

So, how can you say "antigüedad (en una empresa)" in English?

Well, the answer is: it is a bit difficult. It is a little like the verb "estrenar" there is no good translation for it. Instead, you need to use the present perfect tense and say something like:

"He has been at the company a long time"

or

"How long has he been in the company?"

I hope that helps!
