¿"Estafa" o "Timo" en inglés?

¡La semana pasada me estafó un taxista!

Pagué el doble.

But every cloud has a silver lining...(No hay mal que por bien no venga)

¡Porque me recordó que muchos de mis clientes tienen problemas para traducir "estafa" o "timo" al inglés!

Here are the options:

- to rip someone off
- something is a rip-off 
- a scam
- to con someone out of something (usually money)
- to con someone into doing something
- to defraud somebody
- to swindle someone

 

Unos ejemplos:

The taxi driver ripped me off when I went to the airport!

Don't give your details to anyone who calls you. Most of the time it's a scam!

He conned me into giving him my credit card details.
